GREG MCKINNEY: Those who Dr. Eugene Stanislaus describe him as an extremely skilled dentist with an uncommon desire to help people. RITA THORN: He is very kind, generous, friendly, and compassionate. GREG MCKINNEY: This Brooklyn New York, Cosmetic Dentist sees patients every day who have oral health and teeth issues that affect more than just their smile. DR. EUGENE STANISLAUS: Many of my patients come to me because they are just not happy with the way their teeth look. Some of them say they can't go on a job interview; they can't socialize because they are embarrassed about the way their teeth look. GREG MCKINNEY: that problem is often compounded by the fact that many of those same patients have a crippling fear of going to the dentist. TANZINA AHSAN: A lot of people do have that first dental anxiety, just the fear of the unknown. AKILAH RICHARDS: It is very warm, it's like a family. GREG MCKINNEY: Dr. Stanislaus says one of the main reasons why so many patients feel so at home here is because of the staff that the has assembled. A group he calls his dream team. DR. STANISLAUS: They are all compassionate, kind, dedicated, hard-working people. And they just make my job a lot easier, so I am able to just concentrate on dentistry. GREG MCKINNEY: And concentrate on dentistry, he does. He has added prosthodontist, Dr. Lisa Reid and general dentist Dr. Michael Ricciardi to his staff. Together they provide services ranging from dental implants, veneers and Invisalign, to tooth whitening, drowns and full-mouth restorations. DR. STANISLAUS: We offer all phases of dentistry here. In fact we are proud that don't refer out a lot of patients for specialty treatment. GREG MCKINNEY: Dr. Lamuel Stanislaus practiced dentistry for 38 years before he retired and was appointed to be the ambassador from the Country of Grenada to the United Nations. When people in the Brooklyn area heard that his son had reopened the family practice in 1985 -- DR. STANISLAUS: They just flocked in, I think, from the goodwill that my father had developed with them. GREG MCKINNEY: Dr. Stanislaus' office is located here in Brooklyn at 189 Montague Street. And it is only about three miles or so from where his father started the family business, way back in 1956. LAMUEL STANISLAUS: He sees what he formulated or he started basically grow. DR. STANISLAUS: He think he is happy that I became a dentist because I think the fact that he was able to hand the practice over to me I think was something he was happy about. So that pretty much the practice would be sustained for another generation. GREG MCKINNEY: Today, Brooklyn Heights Dental has evolved and offers state-of-the-art dental technology. And I came because I needed an implant as well as some cosmetic work done and he is an expert in his field. And I have been very happy with the office. I come in and it is clean, friendly, professional and very modern. And I am able to see him with great flexibility in scheduling. DR. LISA REID: I think what makes a good dentist is not just having good hands, but having compassion; a kind person and I think patients really relate to that. DR. STANISLAUS: I have accomplished in dentistry things that are beyond my wildest dreams. Dentistry is just a great field. I enjoy it so much and sometimes I even say, I can't believe I'm being paid to do this.
