Veneers
Easy Enhancement, Incredible Results
A Versatile Treatment
Veneers are thin porcelain shells that cover the entire front surface of your tooth. While other treatments may only address one cosmetic issue, veneers can conceal gaps, chips, cracks, discoloration, and wear all at once.
Improved Confidence
If you are self-conscious about your smile, porcelain veneers can give you a smile that makes you look and feel your very best.
Long-Lasting Results
While veneers will eventually need to be replaced, they can last more than a decade with proper care. We craft our veneers from porcelain and IPS e.max, both of which are durable, non-porous, and stain-resistant.
Our Incredible Transformations
Michelle, a patient at our Brooklyn Heights practice, was unhappy with the large spaces between her teeth. She received veneers as part of a comprehensive smile makeover and now loves to show off her smile.

View on GoogleWhat Are Veneers?
Dental veneers are custom-made porcelain shells. They are bonded to the front surface of teeth to conceal cosmetic imperfections.
Our Brooklyn patients often choose veneers to conceal discoloration, mask chips and cracks, close gaps, and reshape crooked teeth.
Unlike bulky dental veneers of the past, modern porcelain veneers produce bright and natural-looking smiles.
They can also be made from durable materials, allowing your results to last.
If you're curious about the benefits of veneers, contact our Fort Greene-area office for more information.
Transform Your Smile in One Appointment
With CEREC® technology, Brooklyn Heights Dental can offer same-day restorations to patients from Fort Greene and nearby areas. Just as the name suggests, patients can mask cosmetic imperfections and transform the appearance of their smile in just one office visit. To begin, we will take detailed digital scans of your teeth and send the impressions to our in-office milling device. The machine carves the veneer out of a solid block of porcelain, typically in less than an hour, and then the restoration can be placed. This allows our patients to enjoy more beautiful smiles in a fraction of the time required for traditional methods.
Are Veneers Right for Me?
It is important to understand that traditional porcelain veneers will alter your natural tooth structure, and require a life-long commitment to upkeep. During your consultation at our Brooklyn Heights practice, we will ask you about your long-term goals and whether you can manage periodic maintenance. If you are unsure about making a permanent change, you may be better suited for an alternative treatment called Lumineers®.
Choose a Dedicated Team That Sees Details Big and Small
Dr. Stanislaus and Dr. Reid know that every detail matters. This starts with your consultation, where they will take the time to get to know you and understand your specific smile goals.
Then, they will guide you through your veneer options, such as which material to choose. Our dentists only use porcelain and IPS e.max for their veneers, so your beautiful smile is built to last.
They also use precise technology, like our CEREC scanner, to ensure that your custom veneers blend in seamlessly with your unique smile.

Ultra-Thin Lumineers
A Reversible Veneer Alternative
Brooklyn Heights Dental strives to offer as many high-quality treatments as possible so patients can select the best option for their needs, preferences, and budget. Lumineers are a popular alternative to traditional porcelain veneers for addressing minor cosmetic flaws and achieving a brighter smile. Technically, Lumineers are a type of dental veneer, made from a much thinner ceramic shell. They are so thin, they require little to no tooth preparation before placement, and still lay flush with surrounding teeth. Dr. Stanislaus and Dr. Reid can evaluate your smile and cosmetic goals to determine if Lumineers are right for you.
Veneers vs. Lumineers Weighing Your Options
When deciding which type of treatment is best for you, it is important to look at both your immediate needs and long-term goals...
Veneers Work Best For:
- Covering significant discoloration and moderate cracks and chips since they have a thicker shell.
- Correcting the appearance of crooked teeth that may need to be initially reshaped.
- Withstanding wear in patients who occasionally grind their teeth.
Lumineers Work Best For:
- Conserving tooth structure in patients with thin enamel.
- Improving minor chips, breakage, and other cosmetic flaws.
- Patients who do not want to commit to permanent change or upkeep.

"Clear information, follow-up in case of a health insurance concern, and most importantly, they accommodated my needs. I have PTSD and sometimes, noises, textures, and the anesthesia could make me feel unwell. After speaking with the hygienist, and Dr. Reid they were extra careful, and constantly making sure that I feel heard, safe and comfortable in the chair. Thank You!" Montserrat Vargas
What About Dental Bonding?
Many patients at our Brooklyn Heights, NY, practice ask about dental bonding as an alternative to porcelain veneers. While dental bonding is a cost-effective procedure to improve the appearance of cosmetic imperfections, the treatments and results are very different. Bonding is an enamel-colored composite resin applied directly to the tooth and cured with a special LED light. In addition to being low-cost, bonding is also noninvasive and can be completed in just one appointment. However, the results do not last as long or look as stunning as veneers.
Why Veneers Provide the Most Lifelike Effects
There are several reasons why veneers are often the better option. These restorations are crafted from medical-grade porcelain ceramic that mimics the translucency and light-reflecting properties of your natural teeth. Porcelain has the added advantage of being a nonporous substance. Unlike natural tooth enamel and composite resin, porcelain does not absorb stains from darkly colored foods and beverages and maintains its bright color for decades. If you are going to make an investment in your smile, porcelain veneers come at a higher value and provide the best results for the years to come.
Are There Any Risks Associated with Treatment?
In contrast to their many benefits, porcelain veneers involve few risks and very minimal, if any, discomfort. We do everything in our power to ensure our Brooklyn patients stay comfortable throughout the procedure. If you know you suffer from anxiety during dental treatment or have a particularly low threshold for pain, we can provide sedation dentistry to help you relax.
Although there is no downtime after receiving veneers, patients may temporarily experience tooth sensitivity following preparation. This sensitivity typically fades between the first and third weeks after your final restorations are in place. Anti-sensitivity toothpaste and mouthwash can help alleviate discomfort, as can eating soft foods at a moderate temperature.
Caring for Your New Smile
Caring for your porcelain veneers is much like caring for your natural teeth. Several tips and habits can extend their longevity:
Prevent Cracks
Do not chew on ice, pen caps, hard candies, or anything that can put too much pressure on your restorations. Biting your nails or opening packages with your teeth can also crack the porcelain or dislodge the veneer from your tooth.
Avoid Stains
Minimize your consumption of coffee, tea, red wine, and other stain-producing foods as well as tobacco products. Although the porcelain is nonporous, the dental cement that secures the veneer can absorb color and stain the edge of the tooth.
Practice Good Hygiene
To maintain long-lasting results, it is important to keep your natural teeth healthy as well. Practice good oral hygiene by brushing at least twice a day with proper techniques, flossing, and rinsing with an approved antibacterial mouthwash.
Attend Check-Ups
Make sure to schedule biannual visits to our Brooklyn Heights practice for an exam and cleaning. This gives the dentist the opportunity to check for bruxism, tooth decay, and gum disease – all known to negatively affect your tooth structure and veneers. With early detection, we can provide prompt treatment and better maintain the long-term health and aesthetics of your smile.
